Another 9,500 families to receive vouchers for purchasing new appliances
Another 9,500 families will receive vouchers worth up to 6,000 lei to purchase new and energy-efficient appliances. The support is offered as part of a new session of the EcoVoucher Program, held on 7-31 August.
The vouchers are granted to families with children and households where people over the age of 63 reside, to help them reduce the electricity bills.
The financial support covers up to 70 percent of the cost of a high-efficiency refrigerator or washing machine, within the limit of six thousand lei.
Since the program's launch, nearly 30,000 families have purchased new and efficient equipment. The vouchers are distributed automatically based on the data registered on the platform http://compensatii.gov.md. Beneficiaries can use the voucher during the active session in partner store networks, provided they recycle an old appliance of the same type.
Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy Ion Muntean said that the EcoVoucher Program has become an efficient tool, offering people the opportunity to make rational decisions regarding energy consumption. “We observe that beneficiaries choose appliances not only based on price but also on reliability, efficiency and long-term savings. We are pleased to see that the program also significantly contributes to a qualitative change in consumption behavior,” said Ion Muntean.
“Norway supports initiatives that have a real impact at both the family and community levels. EcoVoucher contributes to reducing inequalities, offers concrete solutions to those in need, and at the same time promotes the principles of energy equity,” mentioned Kamilla H. Kolshus, Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Chisinau.
The EcoVoucher Program was developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with the support of the European Union. This edition of the Appliance Voucher Program is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy as part of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Moldova (E4M) project. E4M is a project implemented by GIZ together with the Government of the Republic of Moldova, funded by the German Government and co-financed by the European Union, Norway and Denmark. The current edition of the Appliance Voucher Program is funded by Norway, with a total budget of 7.5 million euros.
Full information about the program, the list of partner stores, and steps for using the voucher are available on www.ecovoucher.md. Households that meet the eligible categories can check the availability of the voucher on the platform: verificarevoucher.cned.gov.md.
