Energy Minister: Energocom not to assume Moldovagaz's financial deviations
Energocom company will not take over the financial deviations of Moldovagaz. Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu made the statement today in the context of ANRE's decision to withdraw the license issued to Moldovagaz for the natural gas supply activity and the takeover by Energocom of the control over the country's gas supply infrastructure.
"The process is already underway and in the coming period, ANRE will designate the natural gas supplier for the left bank... Energocom will not take over the financial deviations of Moldovagaz," Junghietu said.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved on 4 August the decision to withdraw the license issued to Moldovagaz for the natural gas supply activity, following the expiration of the granted term and failure to meet the requirements regarding functional, decision-making, and legal separation from other activities in the sector.
Given that the process of ceasing the activity of the supplier Moldovagaz and takeover by Energocom of about 800,000 consumers represents a unique challenge for all parties involved, the Agency decided that the actual moment of changing suppliers will take place on 1 September.
In this regard, ANRE has obligated Moldovagaz and Energocom to carry out all the necessary organizational measures to ensure the effective continuity of service obligations by the end of this month, so that from 1 September the supply of natural gas to the final consumers to be taken over by Energocom is not affected in any way.
At the same time, given the complexity of the process of approving regulated prices for Energocom, which involves several stages, including the approval of base costs, the calculation base of fixed assets and intangible assets, in compliance with decision-making transparency procedures, Energocom will apply for the first period of activity the current prices of Moldovagaz.
