Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Days of Japanese Culture, which runs until 30 October, began on 27 October evening at the National Library (BNM) with an Ikebana creation workshop – creation of live flower compositions.

The event was attended by Japanese Ambassador to Chisinau, Masanobu Yoshii, and the special guest of the event – Professor Midori Yamada, Master of the Ikebana Institute in Kyoto, Japan, recognised internationally for the promotion of Japanese art.

Interviewed by agency, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova, Masanobu Yoshii, said that the Embassy and the Ikenobo Japanese Culture and Art Centre organised several workshops at BNM and other cultural institutions. "We have also inaugurated numerous exhibitions, which featured the Ikebana pieces. In fact, Ikebana is the traditional culture of Japan, and we aimed to better understand Moldovans who fell in love with this art," said the Japanese official.

On 28 October, at 16:00, it will take place SUMI – E creation workshop (Japanese painting) at BNM. On Tuesday, 30 October, at 18:00, it will be carried out Komono workshop (making small things in cloth) at the same institution.

Japanese culture days were launched in 1998 at the initiative of the Ikenobo Culture and Art Centre.
