The official emphasized that, on Europe Day, we celebrate our common European project, the moment when the founding members chose unity over division and cooperation over conflict.
“They decided to build a future of peace, freedom and prosperity on the ruins of the Second World War. We believe that your future is in the European Union. Many efforts are being made to turn this into reality. Dear citizens of Moldova, the elections in September last year represented a clear vote in favor of the European Union. We look forward to taking the next steps in the accession process. Together, we will build a common European future. Long live Europe!” António Costa emphasized.
Europe Day is celebrated every year on 9 May. It marks the historic moment of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations of European cooperation and of today’s European Union. In the context of Moldova’s European path, the celebration has gained a special significance, reflecting the country’s aspirations for integration and development.
