On Europe Day, we all proudly say: Europe is you – Republic of Moldova. Let us make the most of this historic opportunity for peace, freedom and growth. Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova Iwona Piórko today conveyed a message to this effect, on the occasion of Europe Day.

The official underlined that she is happy, for the first time, to celebrate Europe Day in Moldova.

“The country impresses with its landscapes, culture and traditions, having an immense development potential and extraordinary people: talented, hard‑working and hospitable. It is also an honour, because we are at a historic moment for Moldova – you are advancing on your path towards the European Union with determination and at a rapid pace, which is a profound process of transformation. This transformation is for you, so that you can already benefit from new investments and better jobs. It means modern agriculture, better living conditions for everyone, equal access to education, healthcare, justice and opportunities. Happy Europe Day!” said Iwona Piórko.

Europe Day is annually celebrated on 9 May. It marks the historic moment of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations of European cooperation and of today’s European Union. In the context of Moldova’s European path, the holiday has gained a special significance, reflecting the country’s aspirations for integration and development.
