As a sign of deep respect, President Maia Sandu decreed June 5 as National Day of Mourning; flags will be flown at half-mast and citizens are invited to observe a moment of silence in memory of the composer who made history in the Romanian culture.

Eugen Doga left behind an impressive legacy: over 200 film soundtracks, symphonic works, romances and waltzes that have touched generations. The famous piece, My Sweet and Tender Beast, was designated as the 'Waltz of the Century,' and his works have been included in the world cultural heritage. Doga was not just a composer, but a living symbol of Romanian and universal art.

The Master passed away June 3.
