
SunStroke Project band wins at national final of Eurovision 2017 in Moldova
Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - SunStroke Project band won at the national final of Eurovision 2017, held at the Moldova 1 TV station on 25 February evening. The band will represent Moldova at the Eurovision contest in Kiev, due in next May.
The song, Hey Mamma, presented by SunStroke Project, gained ten points on behalf of the jury and 12 on behalf of the public. They were chosen in a proportion of 50 to 50 following the marks given by the jury and the televoting, with the total score of 22 points. The band Ethno Republic & Osoianu Sisters got 22 points as well. According to the Regulation, the winner is declared to be the one who gained most points of 12 on behalf of the jury.
This year, eight competitors fought for victory in the final: SunStroke Project, Diana Brescan, Aurel Chirtoaca, Samir Loghin, Valeria Pasa, Ethno Republic & Osoianu Sisters, Marks and Stefanet, as well as Vozniuc and Vio Grecu.
SunStroke Project will perform in Kiev at the first semifinal due on 9 May. Singers from Montenegro, Finland, Georgia, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Albania, Azerbaijan, Cyprus and other countries will perform on the Kiev stage on the same day with Moldova.
SunStroke Project represented Moldova at the Eurovision 2010 in Oslo, Norway. They performed along with Olia Tira with the song Run Away.
The band’s saxophonist, Serghei Stepanov, went viral on the Internet, named Epic Sax Guy. The organizers of the Copenhagen Eurovision Song Contest 2014 published a Records Book, which presents the most memorable moments of the context during years. Among them, there is also a saxophonist Serghei Stepanov, the member of the SunStroke Project band from Chisinau, which impressed by his performance in 2010.
