Moldovan cabinet members stand silent for one minute in memory of Master Eugen Doga

The today's government meeting started with a moment of silence, in the memory of the great composer Eugen Doga.

“Master Eugen Doga contributed our country's part to universal culture. This is a loss for everyone. Sincere condolences to the family, loved ones and the entire world,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Eugen Doga is being laid to rest today. A Day of Mourning is across the country today, in the memory of the master.

Master Eugen Doga, one of the most appreciated and beloved composers from  Moldova and the European cultural space, passed away at the age of 88 on June 3, 2025.

Eugen Doga was a composer, professor, academician and a significant figure of the national culture. Born on March 1, 1937, in the village of Mocra, he became known worldwide through his musical works, especially the famous Waltz from the film, My Sweet and Tender Beast, by director Emil Loteanu, considered by UNESCO as one of the four musical masterpieces of the 20th century.
