Governor of National Bank of Moldova has meeting with European Commissioner for Economy

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) stays fully committed to the process of European financial integration through solid reforms and strengthening the stability of the financial sector. BNM Governor Anca Dragu has made statements to this effect at a meeting European Commissioner for Economy, Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis in Brussels.

According to BNM, the officials discussed strengthening cooperation between Moldova and European institutions, focusing on the country's macroeconomic developments and perspectives, alignment with European financial standards, integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and implementation of the European Commission's recommendations from the EU Enlargement Package.

At the same time, the topics discussed included Moldova's growth plan and the implementation of the programme supported by the International Monetary Fund.

"The National Bank of Moldova stays fully committed to the process of European financial integration through solid reforms and strengthening the stability of the financial sector. Moldova will soon become an operational part of SEPA—a historic moment that will bring direct benefits to citizens and the business environment through faster, safer and cheaper payments. This achievement reconfirms and strengthens Moldova's European trajectory," highlighted Anca Dragu.

In Brussels, Anca Dragu also met with European Commissioner for Financial Services and the Union of Economies and Investments Maria Luís Albuquerque. The sides discussed, in particular, prospects for cooperation between Moldova and European institutions in the field of financial services, the stability of the banking and non-banking financial sector and integration into the European Union's financial market.
