Moldovan government, with EU's support, allocates 4.6 billion lei to help citizens pay energy invoices

Moldova’s government has allocated 4.6 billion lei in all, of which almost a half with the support of the European Union and member countries, in order to help citizens pay the energy invoices. Prime Minister Dorin Recean unveiled the figures today.

„We ever more often hear speculations about European money and where it goes. It is important that we emphasize that, namely due to the European support, the government can provide substantial compensations to our citizens,’’ Dorin Recean said.

The prime minister noted that the state was providing two types of compensations. The first type of payments represents compensations for heating, provided in continuation in cash to the people who registered in the system. The second category represents the compensations for energy, directly in invoice, for the first 110 KWh, which means 80 per cent of the average monthly consumption of a family from Moldova.

„We provide compensations for electricity to all families of Moldova, no matter whether they registered in the compensations system or not, starting from March till the end of this year,’’ the PM stressed.

The government is providing energy compensations to vulnerable households for the third year in a row. The measure is included in the Help at the Meter programme.
