Chisinau, 21 February / MOLDPRES /- Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) has published on its official website Order on new tariffs for district and international road transport.
According to the document, two types of tariffs have been set depending on the transport category. It is comfort I or comfort II. Or, the price will be 0.10 lei per kilometer more expensive than the current price.
The MIDR order shows that for the international transport, for the comfort category II the price will be 0.70 lei per kilometer, and for the comfort category I the price will be 0.80 lei per kilometer.
For regular services in district traffic the cost will be: for comfort category II - 0.80 lei per kilometer; for comfort category I - 0.90 lei per kilometer.
"Based on the decision of the local councils within the local government authorities of the first level, the carriers may apply tariffs of up to 1 lei per kilometer per passenger for regular services in international traffic, and for regular services in district traffic, up to 1.10 lei per kilometer ", indicates MIDR.
The minibuses will be able to apply tariffs for the “comfort I” class only after obtaining an appropriate classification certificate, according to the quoted source.
The increase in ticket prices is part of the new National Program MODERN TRANSPORT, launched on February 16.
The program sets higher standards for road passenger transport services and contains several measures that will lay the foundations for a partnership between the authorities and transport operators, for the direct benefit of the people. Among the actions included in the plan are: the development of a national program to support carriers for the renewal of the car fleet; changing the methodology for calculating fares for passengers and bus services; combating illicit passenger transport; route optimization; elaboration of the mobility strategy.
Modern Transport program is a courageous one, meant to rule and change this field, and for people to benefit from safe, comfortable and accessible transport services. The fare paid for transport services must be fair to both people and operators. We will make real efforts, as we have never done before, but we also expect the operators to be ready to increase their investments and have more respect for the beneficiaries ", said at the launch event Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
