Over 19.9 million lei directed to non-profit organizations, religious entities of Moldova through percentage designation mechanism in 2025
Over 19.9 million lei in 2025 was directed to non-profit organizations and religious entities through the percentage designation mechanism. The funds reached 1,050 beneficiaries.
The year 2025 marks the ninth consecutive year when individual taxpayers from Moldova had the opportunity to redirect two per cent of their income tax to non-commercial organizations or religious entities under the percentage designation mechanism, also known as the '2-per cent Law'.
This mechanism is available for individual resident taxpayers who do not have income tax debts and pay it in full and on time. The designation is carried out by submitting the Income Tax Declaration.
The percentage designation can also be made by individuals engaging in professional activities in the justice sector, such as lawyers, trainee lawyers, public notaries, bailiffs, authorized administrators, mediators and judicial experts.
The State Tax Service said that the 2-per cent mechanism was not a donation that people make from their own money. If a person chooses to direct 2 per cent to an organization, the state will receive 98 per cent of the tax, and 2 per cent will go to the organization chosen by the person.
