Vestmoldtransgaz company provisionally appointed as operator of natural gas transmission system
Chisinau, July 10. /MOLDPRES/- In the context of the certification procedure of the transport system operator SRL "Moldovatransgaz", which was initiated on June 16, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) issued on July 7 the decision on provisional appointment of SRL "Vestmoldtransgaz" as operator of the natural gas transportation system in Moldova.
The decision provides mechanisms and gradual actions to be applied by both operators of the natural gas transport system, in order to ensure a possible takeover by SRL "Vestmoldtransgaz" of the natural gas transport networks under the management of SRL " Moldovatransgaz". According to ANRE, the date of physical takeover and documentation of the operation activity of the entire natural gas system in the country by SRL "Vestmoldtransgaz" could be September 19, 2023, in the event that SRL "Moldovatransgaz" will not complete the separation process in relation to the enterprise vertically integrated and will not submit the certification application accompanied by the appropriate documents.
The obligation to separate natural gas transmission system operators is a requirement of the European Union's Energy Package III, as well as a commitment assumed with the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Energy Community Treaty.
The natural gas transmission system operator SRL "Vestmoldtransgaz" successfully passed the certification procedure according to the ownership separation model, which was completed on September 3, 2021.
