Moldovan parliament speaker welcomes opening of EU accession negotiations on two more chapter clusters

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has welcomed the decision of the 27 European Union member states to open official negotiations with Moldova on two additional accession chapter clusters: Internal Market and Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth.

In a message posted on social media, Igor Grosu said that the decision represented recognition of the progress made by Moldova in its European integration process.

“Behind this step, there are reforms, hard work and people who, day by day, are preparing Moldova for accession. I thank everyone who contributes to this effort,” the parliament speaker wrote.

Igor Grosu thanked the European Union member states for their support and noted that the authorities would continue the reforms necessary to prepare the country for accession.

“The decision of the 27 member states shows that our progress is recognized and that we can move forward when we do our homework well,” the official emphasized.

The parliament speaker urged citizens to have confidence in Moldova and in the ability of its people to contribute to the country's European path.

“Let us have confidence in Moldova and its people. Let us be the generation that takes Moldova into the great European family,” Igor Grosu concluded.
