Moldova during January 30-February 1 is hosting the international exhibition, Tourism & Travel Expo 2026, an event dedicated to promoting tourist destinations and developing the tourism industry. More than 70 companies of Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria are presenting a wide range of holiday offers, discounts and special packages for visitors.

The event is attended by representatives of public authorities, the tourism sector and the business community, including officials from Romania’s Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

“The fact that we have reached the 29th edition of this fair shows that the event already has a strategic character and national importance of Moldova, while Romania’s participation for the 28th consecutive time reflects our firm commitment to support Moldova in its efforts to get closer to and integrate into the European Union. I am very glad to be here today and I reaffirm this support, which I have also expressed in previous years, within various economic forums held here,” said Viorel Baltaretu, State Secretary of Romania’s Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

Moldova is promoting a diverse range of tourism offers at the exhibition. Professional associations, such as ANAT and APIT, bring together members of the tourism industry at shared stands, while local businesses, guesthouses, wineries and museums present their tourism products and services.

“We are focusing on tourism that allows visitors to get to know the people of this country, because, among the many reasons for pride, the most important is the people of Moldova. Over millennia, they have shown that they are open to those who come in goodwill to this land. In rural areas, there are still many opportunities to be harnessed, unlike in the capital Chisinau, where most visitors spend only one day and form an impression of Moldova based solely on the city,” said Corneliu Cirimpei, State Secretary at the Culture Ministry.

Participants from different regions of the country are bringing local traditions and heritage into the spotlight. The representative of the village of Sofia, Drochia district, noted that northern Moldova was being promoted through traditional dishes, authentic decorative elements and local crafts, highlighting the tourist potential of the region.

Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu said that expanding partnerships in the field of tourism was an important tool for bringing communities closer together and developing joint tourism offers.

“We have discussed with representatives of the tourism sector how Romania and Moldova can better capitalize on what brings them together: complementary destinations, shared heritage and the interest in developing attractive tourism offers. Expanding partnerships in this field stays an essential tool for bringing communities closer together and encouraging tourist mobility on both banks of the Prut River,” said Cristian-Leon Yurcanu.
