ARMENPRESS: Yerevan lodges EAEU complaint over Russian restrictions on Armenian products
Armenia has lodged a complaint within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) over the restrictions imposed by Russia on Armenian products and expects the obstacles to be removed through the application of existing mechanisms.
Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Tigran Gasparyan announced the move at a press briefing.
“Here, not only our communication with Russia is important, but also the opportunities available to us within the EAEU, because there are specific mechanisms that can be applied to remove such obstacles. We are actively using these opportunities. We have lodged a complaint and hope and are confident that the mechanisms will work so that the obstacles are removed,” the deputy minister said.
Asked by a journalist whether the Russian side’s claims concerning the quality of Armenian products are unfounded, Gasparyan said that, in the Armenian side’s assessment, the restrictions imposed do not comply with the agreements and principles established within the EAEU.
“In our opinion, the obstacles do not comply with the agreements and principles reached within the EAEU framework. That is why we are working to ensure that the EAEU operates in accordance with its principles,” he said.
Gasparyan emphasized that Armenia is using the EAEU toolkit to restore the principles that have been violated.
