Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration participates in marking 30 years of work of theoretical lyceum from Grigoriopol
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri today participated in a festive event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the “Stefan cel Mare și Sfânt” (Stephen the Great and Holy) Theoretical Lyceum from Grigoriopol, headquartered in the village of Dorotcaia, eastern Dubasari district.
In his address, the deputy PM emphasized the essential role of education in shaping the younger generation and the contribution of teaching staff to promoting the Romanian language and national values.
“Today, the children studying here are the children of parents who went through those dramatic moments when the school was forcibly evacuated. It is an unfair and sad reality that has lasted far too long. We will do everything in our power to ensure that this high school returns home, to Grigoriopol,” Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri said.
For their part, representatives of the lyceum’s administration expressed their gratitude to the government of Moldova for the support provided in ensuring the institution’s proper functioning and creating suitable conditions for a modern educational process.
Over its three decades of activity, the lyceum has enjoyed the interest and trust of parents who chose Romanian-language education for their children. Presently, 314 students attend the institution and continue their studies in their mother tongue.
