BTA: Bulgarians' Trips Abroad Rise 5.5%, Non-residents' Arrivals Up 2.4% in May
Bulgarian residents made 922,500 trips abroad in May 2026, up 5.5% from May 2025, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on Friday.
The increase was recorded across all travel purposes. An annual growth of 5.5% was also reported for April.
The most popular destinations for Bulgarian travellers were Turkiye, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Germany, North Macedonia, Italy, Austria, Spain, and France.
Visits by non-residents to Bulgaria totalled 1,021,800 in May, up 2.4%, year on year. Growth was registered across all travel purposes, reversing the 1.4% annual decline recorded for April.
The largest numbers of arrivals originated from Romania, Turkiye, Greece, Germany, Serbia, the UK, North Macedonia, Poland, Ukraine and Italy.
