Bălți–Dnestrovsk power line put back into operation
The 330 kV Bălți–Dnestrovsk overhead power line has been repaired and re‑energized after being damaged by the storm on August 6, Moldelectrica company announced. The severe weather conditions damaged several structural elements of the line.
Emergency teams worked in an accelerated regime to fix the faults. According to Moldelectrica, the damaged pylons were replaced and the supporting and fastening elements were restored.
Damaged insulators were also replaced to ensure the proper insulation level for the 330 kV voltage. The interventions included repairing the conductors by fixing broken or damaged sections and restoring their mechanical integrity.
Specialists additionally inspected the fastening elements and connections, as well as the clearances of the conductors and the safety distances.
After the completion of the works, the line passed technical tests and inspections, and the 330 kV Bălți–Dnestrovsk overhead line was reintegrated into the transmission network’s operating scheme.
According to the transmission system operator, the re‑commissioning of the line contributes to maintaining the safety and reliability of the electricity supply.
The power line was severely damaged on August 6 as a result of a storm, with approximately 10 high‑voltage pylons knocked down 15 km from Bălți. According to Moldelectrica, end consumers were not affected.
