The development projects carried out in Moldova with French assistance and the country's accession to the European Union have been the main topics discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the French Ambassador Dominique Waag.

The PM appreciated the constant support of the French side, including in the process of achieving the European agenda, modernizing the defense sector and supporting the energy sector. This year, the French Development Agency provided assistance worth 30 million euros, meant to improve energy efficiency in public buildings, which contributed to reducing energy consumption and invoices.

At the same time, to support businesses and workers, Moldova and France signed a Social Security Agreement, which provides safety by protecting pensions, benefits, and citizens' rights. Another important agreement is the Moldovan-French Convention for Avoiding Double Taxation, which ensures that companies and individuals are not taxed twice on the same income. Thus, cross-border investments have become simpler and more predictable.

In the context, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu confirmed his commitment to strengthening economic ties and creating a friendly business environment to attract more foreign investors, including companies and businessmen from France. To establish direct contacts, Moldovan entrepreneurs participated in the France-Moldova Business Forum in Paris in last march. Also, in March 2026, the largest employers' federation of France, which includes companies and unions from across the country, will conduct an economic mission to Chisinau.
