PHOTO // Representatives of USMF 'Nicolae Testemițanu' honored with awards from Academy of Sciences of Moldova

The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) 'Nicolae Testemițanu' was awarded Diploma of Gratitude from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (AȘM) as a token of appreciation for promoting excellence in education and research in medicine and pharmacy, for significant contribution to training and formation of the young generation in the spirit of national cultural values, as well as on the institution’s 80th anniversary.

The diploma was presented to vice-rector Olga Cernețchi by AȘM President, Academician Ion Tighineanu during ASM Awards Gala. The event is organized annually in the context of the International Day of Science for Peace and Development.

Several scientific and teaching staff and researchers from USMF 'Nicolae Testemițanu' were awarded medals and diplomas by AȘM for their outstanding scientific, practical, managerial, and teaching achievements, training of highly qualified specialists, and the promotion of science at national and international levels.

Natalia Gheorghiu Award in medicine was awarded to University Professor Gheorghe Gîncu, Ph.D. in Medical Sciences – for the works 'Medical-Surgical Tactics in Congenital Malformations and Surgical Conditions of the Hepatobiliary System in Children'. Meanwhile, Gheorghe Paladi Award in medicine was awarded to University Professor Olga Cernețchi, Ph.D. in Medical Sciences – for 'Reproductive Health'.

The academic institution also honored the following professors and university lecturers with distinctions and diplomas:

  • Medal 'Dimitrie Cantemir' – Vitalie Ojovan, Vladimir Valica and Victor Cojocaru;
  • Medal 'Nicolae Milescu Spătarul' – Nicolae Bodrug, Oleg Pascal, Andrei Galescu, Adrian Belîi, Eugen Melnic, Adrian Hotineanu, Oleg Solomon and Olga Tagadiuc;
  • 'Academic Merit' Diploma – Jana Chihai, Nicolae Ghidirim, Ion Bahnarel and Nicolae Caproș;
  • 'Honorary Diploma' – Alexandru Corlăteanu;
  • 'Gratitude Diploma' – Elena Raevschi and Diana Calaraș;
  • 'Excellence Diploma' – Sanda Buruiană;
  • 'Promoter of Authentic European Values' Diploma – Mihail Todiraș.

An exhibition of scientific results obtained during the 2024-2025 period by universities and research institutions in the country was organized under the Research and Innovation Festival 'Science for Peace and Development: Creativity, Experience, Perspectives', which reached its 4th edition. Thus, monographs, collections, presentations, posters were displayed, and interactive workshops were organized with the support of representatives from several university subdivisions.
