The results of the partnership between Moldova and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the joint projects in the fields of energy efficiency, regional development, justice and environment were discussed at a  today's meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Daniela Gasparikova, UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova.

“Each developed programme aims to meet people's needs, improve their lives and support us on our path to the European Union. We want to enhance the capacity to absorb external assistance and direct it where the benefit is maximum,” said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

The PM thanked for the contribution provided this year to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, from which people receive compensations for invoices. At the same time, UNDP is implementing projects to modernize centralized heating systems. A string of projects is also supported by the organization for justice reform, green economy and adaptation to climate change.

A particular topic of the dialogue addressed local development and the opportunities created with UNDP's support in the regions, both for enterprises and communities. In this respect, the sides discussed the main directions of collaboration concerning more efficient management of public finances and facilitating settlements' access to development resources.

UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Daniela Gasparikova reaffirmed the support for the reform agenda: “UNDP stays committed to supporting the efforts of Moldova’s government in promoting efficient, transparent and results-oriented governance, capable of transforming reforms into real benefits for people and communities.”

At present, UNDP Moldova is implementing over 40 projects that contribute to promoting the majority of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), many of which have national coverage.
