Sixty young people of Moldova to participate in fifth edition of paid internships in public service programme
The winning young people will have the opportunity to undertake paid internships in 30 central public authorities, thanks to the fifth edition of the paid internships in public service programme, launched by the government today. The state institutions where most interns will be active include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Parliament, the State Chancellery, and Interior Ministry.
Present at the launch event, Deputy Secretary General of the Government Alexandru Iacub congratulated the winning young people, noting that this edition had proven to be one of the most competitive, with 231 unique candidates. Thus, he encouraged young people to take advantage of development opportunities in the internship, reiterating the government's openness to enhance the attractiveness of public positions among young people.
In the paid internship programme, young officials are expected to accumulate 480 hours over a period of 3 to 6 months, being remunerated monthly with 3,500 lei. Also, interns who complete the programme and receive the "very good" rating can later be proposed, without competition, for executive public positions that do not require professional experience. At the same time, graduates of the internship are included in the public officials’ reserve body for a period of 12 months.
The programme targets young people aged between 18 and 29 and aims to provide a direct and unique experience, by involving them in activities conducted at the central public administration level, thus developing the professional skills of young interns and facilitating their integration into the public service. Participants benefit from regular training sessions, seminars and workshops, in order to improve the interns' knowledge about public administration, especially in the context of European integration.
The paid internships in public service programme was launched by the government, in collaboration with the European Union, in 2023.
