Moldovan head of state to host president of Cyprus in Chisinau on Europe Day
President Maia Sandu on May 9, on Europe Day, will host in Chisinau President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, who will pay an official visit to Moldova, at an invitation by the head of state.
This is the first bilateral visit of a Cypriot president to Moldova and reconfirms the partnership relationship between the two countries, as well as the support for the country’s European path, in the context in which Cyprus holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.
The two heads of state will deliver press statements at the Presidency’s headquarters and will later take part in the Europe Day events on the Great National Assembly Square, where they will address the citizens at 20:30.
Media representatives on May 9 are invited to the headquarters of Moldova’s Presidency (154 Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd.), between 16:50 and 17:20, for the official welcoming ceremony, due to start at 17:35. The press statements of the two leaders will take place at 18:15. Access will be through the entrance from Maria Cebotari Street, based on accreditations.
