EuroQuiz Moldova 2026 Grand Final held in Chișinău
EuroQuiz Moldova 2026 Grand Final is taking place today in Chișinău. The event brings together 41 teams from all districts of the country, competing for the grand prize: a visit to Brussels. The participants were welcomed at the opening of the event by President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, who is paying a visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The number of teams participating in the EuroQuiz Moldova 2026 competition has increased significantly compared to last year. Thus, 835 teams registered for this year’s edition, involving five thousand students and 800 teachers, compared to around 500 teams and 2,500 students in the previous edition. Each team consists of six students and one coordinating teacher. The latter had the task of guiding the students’ preparation in areas such as the history, culture, and institutional mechanisms of the EU.
Present at the opening of the event, President Maia Sandu congratulated the participating teams and wished them success in the competition.
“I congratulate you for making it this far. I understand that many people, or perhaps everyone in this hall and beyond, wants to get to Brussels. I promise you that all of us, one day, some sooner, others maybe a bit later, will have the chance to go to Brussels and see what is happening there and why the European Union is so important,” said Maia Sandu.
The head of state concluded her speech with an important question for the participants: “How many of you want the Republic of Moldova to be part of the big European family?”
“This is the most important question and, especially, the most important answer. We are counting on you. I congratulate you once again and I wish you an exciting competition and that you learn many new things. I am sure that you have already made many new connections today, and many friendships will start from here,” Maia Sandu concluded.
Kaja Kallas emphasized that Europe is rich and united precisely through its diversity. The high-ranking European official invited the participants in the event to visit the city of Brussels.
“In Europe we have a slogan – We are united in diversity. This means that we have different languages, different cultures. Europe is rich and united precisely through its diversity. We are made up of different countries, and many of the countries that are part of the European Union are small states, just like my home country, Estonia. We are looking forward to seeing you all in Brussels. We wish you the best of success in today’s competition,” said Kaja Kallas.
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov underlined that the teams participating in the event demonstrate that we are already part of the big European family.
“You have passed the school stage, you have passed the district stage, and today we wish you good luck in the final stage. Give your best, just as you do every day. You are already winners. Today will be an important day for you, and we are here to support you so that, as a team, you can show that we are already Europe, that we are already part of the big European family,” Cristina Gherasimov stressed.
EuroQuiz is a competition dedicated to students, promoting knowledge about the European Union and European values, and is held annually in the Republic of Moldova.
