Moldovan PM has meeting with Japanese counterpart
Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has met PM of Japan Fumio Kishida, during her working visit to Tokyo. The discussions were focused on possibilities of extending the Moldovan-Japanese relations. The officials tackled the latest developments in the region, as well as their impact on Moldova, including through the light of the large number of Ukrainian citizens received by Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the context, the Moldovan prime minister appreciated Japan’s support for the management of refugees’ crisis and combating the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, Gavrilita expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for the consistent support provided to Moldova during years, in order to modernize the key sectors for the country’s development. According to Moldovan PM, the Chisinau authorities presently need additional financing, in order to meet numerous challenges, ensure the economic resilience and continue the reforms underway for the benefit of the citizens.
„The technical assistance provided by Japan and the programmes meant for Moldova help us considerably in the achievement of the goal of enhancing the people’s quality of life and in the advancement of the modernization process. We are happy that Japan remains a reliable partner and we are open to deepen our relations based on the common values of freedom, democracy and supremacy of law,’’ Natalia Gavrilita stressed.
The Moldovan prime minister referred also to the economic cooperation between the two states, reiterating the country’s interest in the attraction of new Japanese investments and organization of business forums. At the same time, Natalia Gavrilita touched upon the providing of the preferential regime at the import of Moldovan agro-food products to Japan, especially for wines and the importance of initiating joint projects, due to contribute to enhancing the energy efficiency in Moldova.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida highly appreciated the boosting of the Moldovan-Japanese relations in the last years. He noted the mutual opening of the diplomatic missions from the two countries, growth of assistance programmes, as well as the support of the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency in the launch of the first Moldovan satellite. The Japanese PM expressed appreciation for the solidarity proved by Moldovans in helping Ukrainian refugees who fled the war. Fumio Kishida said that his country would take into account Moldova’s contribution to the regional security, providing, in continuation, support for the Moldovan citizens.
