Moldovan government's secretary general has meeting with Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policies
The prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, with a focus on implementing development projects, and Italy’s support for Moldova’s European path have been the main topics discussed at a meeting between Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu and Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policies Elvira Calderone.
The officials reaffirmed the solid nature of the relationship between Moldova and Italy, built on trust, mutual support and concrete results. The social protection agreement signed in 2024 was highlighted as a landmark in bilateral cooperation and proof of a shared commitment to protecting citizens’ rights.
The secretary general emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the context of the negotiations on accession to the European Union, including in the chapter related to social policy and employment. The discussions also covered opportunities to deepen cooperation in the implementation of the Growth Plan for Moldova, including through the involvement of Italian companies in development projects in the country.
For her part, the Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policies reaffirmed her country’s full support for the European agenda of Moldova, underlining Italy’s readiness to provide expertise in implementing key reforms.
