The cooperation between Moldova and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as the support provided by the organization, complementary to all external assistance that backs the country’s European path, have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and OECD Deputy Secretary-General Frantisek Ruzicka.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that European integration, economic growth and the strengthening of security were the government’s main objectives, and that the assistance of external partners was essential for achieving them. The support provided by the OECD targets multiple sectors, including the development of green energy, support for the business environment and small and medium-sized enterprises, justice reform, combating disinformation and strengthening financial education.

For his part, Frantisek Ruzicka noted that Moldova was a success story in the process of economic stabilization and assured that the support provided would be adapted to current needs, in order to accelerate European integration. The official reiterated the importance of the Cooperation Memorandum signed in 2023 and of the Moldova–OECD Action Plan for 2024–2027, along with their contribution to the implementation of reforms and the strengthening of institutional capacities.

The officials also discussed improving the investment climate and Moldova’s position in international rankings, factors that contribute to enhancing the country’s image and attracting investment into the economy. “I believe this is the best time for investors to come now to Moldova and then further develop their businesses when you become an EU member state,” Frantisek Ruzicka said in the context.

Prime Minister Munteanu and the OECD Deputy Secretary-General agreed to strengthen the dialogue, which has been on an upward trajectory in recent years, so that Moldova continues to benefit from expertise which supports the country’s European integration efforts.

The meeting took place in the context of the participation of the high-ranking OECD official in the high-level conference on social rights, European Social Charter, organized under the Presidency of Moldova of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
