Moldovan PM visits modern fruit-growing business in village of Stefan Voda district
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has visited the company Farm-Prod LLC in Olanesti village, Stefan Voda district, which owns an orchard covering over 130 hectares.
The fruit growers cultivate apples, plums, cherries, grapes, peaches, nectarines and apricots. The orchard is modern, equipped with an irrigation system, anti-rain and anti-hail nets. The business also has state-of-the-art harvesting equipment, cold storage rooms and sorting and packaging lines.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu praised the fact that producers were adapting to current trends and were producing high-quality fruit. With financial support from external partners, the company has managed to modernize its production, raise the quality level and significantly increase volume. The fruits produced in Olanesti is exported to the European Union market – Romania, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Spain – as well as to the United Arab Emirates. In the future, the enterprise plans to replace the current varieties with ones that have higher productivity, in order to meet the growing market demand.
The PM highlighted the role of local businesses in improving living conditions in our communities. The enterprise provides jobs for 130 families.
Farm-Prod LLC was founded in 2009 and is a member of the Moldova Fruct Association.
