Moldova, Armenia to strengthen parliamentary cooperation
Moldova and Armenia intend to strengthen the bilateral relations and develop cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. The subject was discussed by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and his Armenian counterpart, Ruben Rubinyan, at a meeting held in Italy.
According to Igor Grosu, the discussions also focused on Armenia’s European path and the possibility for Moldova to share its experience in the European integration process.
“We are pleased with the steps Armenia is taking on its European path and are open to sharing our experience,” the speaker said in a social media post.
The two officials also discussed the common challenges facing the two countries, as well as the experiences from which they can learn from one another.
Igor Grosu stressed that both Moldova and Armenia must be able to pursue their chosen paths without pressure from outside and build institutions in which citizens have confidence.
At the end of the meeting, the two officials agreed to maintain close dialogue and work together to strengthen the relations between Moldova and Armenia.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Armenia were established on July 18, 1992.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu is in Italy on October 15–16, where he is participating in the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament from the Council of Europe member states.
