European Parliament reaffirms support for Moldova's European pathway
"We support Moldova now and in the future. You are ready to open EU accession negotiations on certain chapters, and the European Parliament will continue to be an active partner in this process." MEP Siegfried Muresan has made statements to this effect, who leads the European Parliament delegation that arrived in Chisinau on the occasion of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee’s meeting.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed gratitude for the support provided to the country by the European Parliament, including through the approval of the Growth Plan for Moldova, valued at 1.9 billion euros.
"A significant portion of the funds received through the Growth Plan will be directed towards investments. The main goal of the government is to ensure economic growth and enhance production capacity, including high-value-added goods. We will continue to invest in infrastructure development - through the construction of roads and bridges that will directly connect us to the European network," said the PM.
At the meeting, the officials discussed the draft state budget law for the 2026 year, investments in the energy and education sectors, the situation in the field of defense, including government’s goals regarding the resolution of the Transnistrian problem.
