The Government of the Republic of Moldova

Moldovan citizens living in Ireland will be able to exchange their driving licences without additional exams. The signing of an Agreement to this effect has been approved by the Government.

The Agreement provides for mutual recognition and exchange of driving licences without taking theoretical and practical exams. These conditions will benefit both citizens of the Republic of Moldova and holders of licences issued by the Irish authorities who are on the territory of our country.

The signing of the document will help strengthen bilateral relations, facilitate road traffic between the two states, and support citizens’ mobility, their social integration, and access to the labor market.

Currently, the Republic of Moldova has similar agreements with several states, including Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain, Greece, France, Romania, Israel, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In addition, with Germany there is a joint declaration of intent regarding the transcription of driving licences.
