Moldovan driving licences to be recognized in Latvia
Moldovan citizens living in Latvia will be able to exchange their driving licences without additional exams. The Government has approved the start of negotiations to establish the practical mechanism for the recognition and conversion of driving licences.
The measure is necessary to implement the agreement signed by the two states in Riga on 19 May 2025. It will simplify procedures for citizens holding driving licences issued in the Republic of Moldova or Latvia.
The Republic of Moldova has agreements on the recognition and conversion of driving licences with several countries, including Türkiye, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain and Greece, France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
