Deputy Prime Minister meets UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova
On 10 August 2026, Valeriu Chiveri, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, held a working meeting with Daniela Gasparikova, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of Moldova.
The discussions focused on assistance programmes and projects implemented by UNDP in support of communities on both banks of the Nistru River, with an emphasis on confidence-building, promoting sustainable development, strengthening energy resilience, as well as other relevant areas.
In this context, the parties underlined the need for assistance projects and development initiatives to contribute to the efforts of the national authorities to address the concrete problems faced by residents of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, including issues related to the functioning of schools with instruction in the Romanian language, as well as to the observance of fundamental rights and freedoms in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for UNDP’s contribution to the implementation of multiple external assistance projects, reiterating the importance of ensuring that these projects support the advancement of the effective implementation of sectoral policies for the country’s reintegration.
