Prime Minister to hold expanded meeting with farmers on transit of Ukrainian grain by rail
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan will hold an expanded-format meeting with farmers. The meeting will be dedicated to the transit of Ukrainian grain by rail and will take place on Thursday, August 20, in the second half of the day. The announcement was made by the Government’s spokesperson, Dumitru Ciorici.
“Prime Minister Vasile Tofan is honoring the promise made to farmers and announces the organization of an expanded-format meeting dedicated to the transit of Ukrainian grain by rail,” stated Dumitru Ciorici.
He specified that the Government has taken into account the request of the “Farmers’ Force” Association, agreeing to the participation of a larger delegation consisting of five representatives.
“Representatives of other agricultural associations are also invited to the discussions so that the solutions identified reflect the interests of the entire sector and provide a balance between the needs of all parties involved,” mentioned the Government’s spokesperson.
The working meeting will also be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Moldovan Railways company.
“The purpose of the discussions is to ensure that Moldovan farmers will benefit from priority access to rail transport and that the mechanism for transiting Ukrainian grain will not affect the local market,” emphasized Dumitru Ciorici.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, in the second half of the day, at the Government headquarters.
