Moldovan president has talks in Munich to strengthen security, support European path of Moldova

Strengthening the resilience and security of Moldova, as well as the country’s accession to the European Union have been at the core of the meetings held by the head of state on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, which takes place on February 13-15. The event, opened by Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, brought together 50 heads of state and government, as well as high-level officials from Europe and beyond.

On the first day of the conference, the Moldovan head of state held bilateral meetings with Prime Minister of Estonia Kristen Michal, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Also today, Maia Sandu will hold discussions with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson and Reem Alabali-Radovan, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.

At the same time, the Moldovan president will take part in a panel discussion dedicated to preventing and countering hybrid threats, together with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, President of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service Martin Jäger and Chair of the NATO Military Committee Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

On February 14, bilateral meetings are scheduled with President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković and President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović. The president will also meet more MPs European countries, in order to promote the European path of Moldova.
