Germany reconfirms support for European path of Moldova
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu had a meeting today with Günther Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. The discussion focused on Moldovan-German cooperation and on Germany’s support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
The officials noted that more and more European states recognize the Republic of Moldova’s belonging to the European space and support the country’s progress in the process of European integration.
"The Republic of Moldova is continuing its European course with determination and is doing its homework at home in order to advance as quickly as possible in the process of accession to the European Union. We are seeing ever stronger support for the European future of our country, and this motivates us to continue reforms and the modernization of the state for the benefit of citizens," said Munteanu.
The German side reconfirmed its support for the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova. "Germany will continue to firmly support Moldova’s European path – both at the political level and through the strong support that exists within German society. We believe in the European future of the Republic of Moldova," said Günther Krichbaum.
Another topic addressed was the process of reintegration of the Republic of Moldova. Munteanu emphasized that the country’s reintegration is being promoted by strengthening economic and social ties between the two banks of the Dniester River, and that the support of European partners for strengthening the resilience of the Republic of Moldova remains particularly important.
The officials also reaffirmed their strong support for Ukraine and for the efforts of the Ukrainian people to defend their independence and freedom.
