Moldovan government allocates 100 million lei to farmers hit by bad weather

The farmers hit by late frosts in last spring will receive financial assistance from the government. The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, has approved the allocation of 100 million lei from the government’s intervention fund.

The funds will be distributed to farmers affected by frost damage to sugar beet crops and perennial plantations. At the same time, part of the mentioned amount will be used to compensate for damage to vineyards caused by the storm in the southern Cahul district on July 21-22, this year.

‘’We are aiding the farmers – the funds will be directed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), in order to provide compensation to those affected by bad weather. The government cares for its people and their labor’s yield,’’ noted PM Dorin Recean.

The regulation regarding the establishment of the way of providing financial means for farmers affected by the consequences of frosts and the storm will be developed by MAIA and submitted to the government approval.

Also today, CSE members ruled to allocate 510,000 lei for the repair of the roof of the 'Alunelul' nursery-kindergarten in the village of Alunis, northern Rascani district, and to compensate for the damages caused to residential buildings. The damages were caused by torrential rains in July.
