The main results of the bilateral cooperation from the current year and common priorities for the upcoming period have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Romania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana-Silvia Toiu, who is in Chisinau on the occasion of the Meeting of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Offices of Moldova from abroad.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed gratitude for the constant support provided by Romania, highlighting achievements in key areas, such as energy, education, economy, infrastructure, health and culture.

In 2025, Romania reaffirmed its status as the main trade and investment partner of  Moldova. Bilateral trade exchanges exceeded 3 billion euros and Romanian investments in Moldova amount to approximately 35 million euros.

The Vulcanesti-Chisinau energy independence line, which connects Moldova to Romania's energy system, is soon to be operational. Romania reacted promptly and in solidarity, as always, helping Moldova maintain the stability of its national power system after intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure. At the same time, progress was noted in the construction of the Ungheni-Ungheni Bridge, aimed at improving connectivity between Moldova and Romania and facilitating the integration of Moldova into the European transport network.

The officials discussed cooperation priorities for the coming period, with an emphasis on continuing strategic projects and developing new common initiatives for the benefit of citizens on both sides of the Prut River.

Also, PM Alexandru Munteanu appreciated Romania's active role in supporting the European path of Moldova, including through technical and financial assistance.

“The relationship between Moldova and Romania is strategic, deep and irreversible. We continue to rely on Romania’s support and solidarity in the European journey of Moldova,” emphasized Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
