Moldovan prosecutors' evaluation commission summons more prosecutors for hearings in March

The prosecutors’ evaluation commission has announced a new round of hearings in March, to be attended by prosecutors from the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA) and the Prosecutor General’s Office, including prosecutors who were previously seconded to the specialized prosecutor’s office.

According to the evaluation commission, the first hearing is scheduled for March 12, 2026, at 14:00, when prosecutor Alexandru Cernei will be heard. The procedure takes place as part of his re-evaluation. Previously, on 15 July 2025, the commission issued an evaluation report proposing his promotion, but the document was rejected by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on September 12, 2025, with a decision to restart the evaluation procedure.

On the same day, two prosecutors who were previously seconded to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office will also be heard. At 14:30, the hearing of Veaceslav Potinga, currently a prosecutor at the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, is scheduled, and at 16:30, Eduard Varzar will be heard.

For 13 March, the hearing of prosecutor Ghenadie Pirlii is scheduled. Also, for March 13, Alexandru Morcov from the Straseni Prosecutor’s Office, Calarasi Office, evaluated as a prosecutor previously seconded to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, was invited to a hearing. According to the commission, following the checks carried out, no doubts were identified regarding the observance of integrity criteria. The prosecutor was informed that he could decide whether or not to attend the hearing and chose not to appear. In the absence of new information, the commission is to approve an evaluation report with a recommendation for promotion.

The hearings will take place at the National Institute of Justice. The subjects of the evaluation have the right to consult the case materials before the hearing, to submit written explanations or additional information and to be assisted by a lawyer or trainee lawyer.
