Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has visited Sipoteni - one of the largest and most active communes in Moldova, during a visit to the central Calarasi district.

“In the last four years, numerous development projects have been implemented in the settlement, transforming Sipoteni into a modern locality, with better public services and infrastructure tailored to the needs of people,” said the prime minister.

With governmental support through the European Village programme, the Community Centre was fully renovated inside and endowed with modern equipment and furniture. At the same time, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 17 kW was installed, reducing the institution's energy costs.

Another project implemented in the locality targets the improvement of solid waste management, being financed through the National Environmental Fund. Simultaneously, investments have been made in social and public infrastructure: repairs to the water supply, sewage, roads and modernizations at such institutions  as the kindergarten and the elderly home. Also, the voluntary fire station has been equipped with two new fire trucks.

Sipoteni has become one of the five settlements of Moldova selected for the European Smart Village program, bringing in a new wave of projects aimed at modernization and efficiency. Water filtration stations are set locally, public lighting is modernized with LED technology and modern stations for public transport equipped with information panels are being constructed.

At the same time, on the energy side, the construction of a community photovoltaic park with a capacity of up to 200 kW is planned, which will cover the consumption of public institutions and reduce local budget expenditures.
