Bomb alerts at several polling stations abroad
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports bomb alerts at polling stations in Brussels (Belgium), Rome, Genoa (Italy), Bucharest (Romania), Ashville (USA) and Alicante (Spain).
The ministry noted that state institutions have prepared for this scenario, establishing clear procedures to ensure the electoral process is not affected.
"The bomb alerts began exactly as authorities had previously warned they would, being part of the Russian Federation's assault on the electoral process in the Republic of Moldova. State institutions have prepared for this scenario, we have established clear procedures, and are cooperating with our partners in other countries to ensure the electoral process is not adversely affected. We urge all citizens to heed the recommendations of the authorities, follow official information, and continue honest voting," the ministry said.
In this context, Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă emphasized that only in Genoa, Italy, was the voting procedure halted during the checks.
"Security procedures are being followed in cooperation with law enforcement agencies in partner countries. Apart from Genoa, voting continued," Daniel Vodă said.
Electoral process monitoring cameras installed in polling stations are operational and keeping electoral instruments under observation to ensure they remain intact until voting processes resume.
In total, over 300 polling stations have been opened abroad for the parliamentary elections on September 28 of this year. Most stations are organized in Italy - 75, Germany - 36, France - 26, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - 24, Romania - 23.
