Parliament speaker says Moldova ready to start negotiations on first clusters for EU accession
The decision of Moldova’s citizens to continue the path of European integration represents a turning point for the country's future, according to Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The pro-European option expressed in last autumn is a bold one, with long-term impact. The speaker today evening made statements to this effect at the talk show "At 360 Degrees," on the public radio station.
"The citizens of Moldova have made a very good and very bold decision to continue the path of European integration. The European Union is associated with peace, prosperity, development and respect for human life," emphasized Igor Grosu.
The parliament speaker said that Moldova was ready, according to the assessments of the European Commission, to begin negotiations on the first clusters, including the one on fundamental principles. No matter whether these stages are launched officially or technically it is important for the process to advance according to the established plan.
In the context, Igor Grosu emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in Moldova, in the proximity of a devastating war in the region, was a major achievement that naturally complements the country's European integration goal.
