Moldovan parliament speaker warns Moldovans from Russian Federation about real risks of forced recruitment, says Russia needs cannon fodder
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has warned about real risks faced by citizens of Moldova on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the context of information on possible attempts to recruit or coerce for military service.
According to him, the Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry has issued clear recommendations for Moldovans in the Russian Federation, urging them not to sign any documents, especially those related to military structures, and to immediately seek consular and legal assistance.
"The Russian Federation is desperately searching for people for the war and does not show respect for human life, not even their own citizens, let alone citizens of other states. They need cannon fodder. The risks are real and people need to be extremely cautious," said Igor Grosu.
The speaker emphasized that the priority of the Moldovan authorities was to protect citizens who do not want to be involved in the military conflict. The official noted that there are known cases of Moldovans ending up on the front, and in situations where the participation was voluntary, the state has enforced sanctions, including the withdrawal of citizenship.
"Our obligation is to protect those who do not want to be involved in such crimes. Therefore, the message is clear: do not sign anything and immediately contact the consular authorities," concluded Igor Grosu during the talk show, At 360 Degrees, on the public radio station.
