European parties' leaders welcome newly-created Political Alliance for European Moldova
Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The leaders of the European People’s Party (EPP) and Party of European Socialists (PES), Joseph Daul and, respectively, Sergei Stanishev, have welcomed the creation of the Political Alliance for European Moldova (APME).
According to a press release by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Joseph Daul said that “it is the newly-created alliance’s duty to set up a government of reforms, which to meet the expectations of the Moldovan citizens”. „I appeal to PLDM and Democratic Party (PDM) to create as soon as possible a government able to reunite in the parliament all political forces that believe in Moldova’s European future and want to contribute to the success of the country. There is no more time to lose. Moldova must implement reforms, which are to get it closer to the European Union. Moldova may count on Europe’s support,” Joseph Daul’s message reads.
Sergei Stanishev also voiced hope in a message conveyed today that APME „will manage to create a pro-European government in a short time." "Two months were necessary to achieve this important result and it is regrettable that the Liberal Party was not sufficiently flexible to stay in the pro-European coalition. This in the situation when the Moldovan nation needs political leaders who are to put aside discrepancies and fight together for a better life of their citizens,” Stanishev said, according to a press release by PDM.
The agreement on APME setting up was signed by PLDM and PDM leaders Vlad Filat and respectively, Marian Lupu, on 23 January.
