
Parliament passed 40 laws in May
In May, Parliament convened in three plenary sessions. 40 normative acts were adopted. It is about 36 laws and four decisions.
Thus, 32 legislative initiatives were approved in the first reading. Three of them were developed to harmonize national legislation with that of the European Union, and two are part of the national action plan for Moldova's EU accession for 2024 - 2027. Additionally, in May, 37 normative acts entered the legislative process.
Among the legislative initiatives adopted by Parliament are those aimed at extending the list of countries where postal voting will be implemented, the regionalization of the police, tightening measures to prevent and combat tobacco use, and issuing new types of passports, adapted to EU standards. Deputies also ratified some financing agreements for the modernization of the capital's energy infrastructure and 30 buildings of hospitals and educational institutions. Parliament ratified two agreements with the EU concerning 1.9 billion euros in financial support from the European Union.
In the first reading, additional legislative measures for the protection of women from all forms of violence and harassment were voted on, as well as a draft law developed to support the digital economy and electronic services, etc. Also, in the first reading, the legislative initiative was approved whereby the state will provide guarantees and compensate the interest rate on loans accessed for energy efficiency projects.
Before being voted on in the Parliament plenary, the legislative initiatives were examined within permanent committees.
