
Moldova's president expresses condolences on passing away of composer Eugen Doga, announces national mourning
President Maia Sandu has expresses deep regret over the passing away of great composer Eugen Doga and extended sincere condolences to his family, close ones, and all who knew the maestro Eugen Doga.
“I was saddened to learn about the death of the great Eugen Doga. I grew up with the melodies from the movie, Maria Mirabela and cried while listening to the music from ‘Lăutarii (The Fiddlers)’. We carry with us everywhere the famous waltz from My Sweet and Tender Beast and recognize the maestro's compositions from the first notes,” said the head of state.
To pay tribute to the maestro Eugen Doga, the day of the funeral will be declared a national day of mourning in Moldova. On this day, state flags will be flown at half-mast, and public institutions and citizens are encouraged to observe a moment of silence in memory of the great composer.
