Major irregularities in election campaign's financing; Moldovan Central Electoral Commission sends files to Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved reports on the comprehensive control of financing of four political parties and the electoral campaign of independent candidate Victoria Furtuna, for the period of July 1 - October 31, 2024.
According to the CEC, following verifications, the REVIVAL Party was ordered to transfer 79,128.79 lei to the state budget, a sum derived from donations made by individuals, collected in violation of the law. The party must inform the Commission of the actions taken by August 19, 2025.
The institution also notified the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) regarding political, social and cultural events organized by the REVIVAL Party, the CHANCE Party, the VICTORY Party, and the Force for Alternative and Salvation of Moldova without supporting documents, estimated at 2.91 million lei — an amount classified as "particularly large proportions."
CEC specifies that the Justice Ministry will also be informed to apply the measures provided by the law.
At the same time, Victoria Furtuna, as a successor of the independent candidate in the presidential elections, was ordered to contribute 229,636 lei to the budget, an amount not indicated in the financial report of the campaign.
