Speaker Igor Grosu paid a working visit to Cahul district. The official spoke with citizens and visited infrastructure modernization projects implemented in the region.

The working visit began with a discussion with the people from the village of Brânza, a locality where several projects have been carried out. Thus, the House of Culture was renovated through the European Village program. Additionally, sidewalks leading to the main social institutions, the Family Doctors' Office were renovated, and a pharmacy was opened. Moreover, the water supply system is being modernized, and the project will be completed in the fall.

In Pelinei, Cahul district, significant investments worth about 9 million lei have been made. Street lighting was extended throughout the commune, the house-museum was repaired, the pedestrian path to the village gymnasium was rebuilt, and the water supply infrastructure extension project is currently being implemented.

Frumușica and Chioselia Mare villages are also being modernized. A multifunctional sports field was built here, the waste management project in Chioselia Mare is underway, and funds were allocated for the sewerage system through the European Village program.

'People see these changes, but I know we cannot stop halfway because there is still much work to be done,' he remarked.

During his visit, Speaker also had the opportunity to see the results of the infrastructure modernization projects implemented in the area. He visited the road connecting the localities Borceag, Chioselia Mare, Frumușica, Chioselia Rusă, Câietu, and Dimitrova, which was recently renovated for the first time in 45 years. The official mentioned that modernizing road infrastructure is one of the authorities' priorities, and such projects will reach the entire country.

'So far, we have managed to build 766 km of roads. Only this year, we have allocated an unprecedented amount for road construction – 2.5 billion lei. With this money, we will build about 600 km of regional and local roads,' added Grosu.

Also, in the southern part of the country, Vulcănești – Chișinău high-voltage line, symbolically called the 'independence line,' passes through. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will allow the Republic of Moldova to connect to the European energy market through Romania and become energy independent.

'Gradually, with patience and hard work, we are building the country's strategic infrastructure – roads, power lines, hospitals, schools – all meant to pave our way to the European Union,' Grosu said.

In total, about 360 million lei have been invested in Cahul district in recent years for local development projects and another 63 million in the district's medical institutions.
