March of solidarity, social justice held in Moldovan capital on International Workers' Day

A March of Solidarity and Social Justice took place in Chisinau on the International Workers' Day. The event was organized by Moldova’s Party of Socialists (PSRM).

The party members and supporters set out in a column from the square of the Circus and marched to the square of the Maria Biesu Opera and Ballet Theater.

The participants expressed their solidarity with the citizens who work daily for the community, given that the holiday is dedicated to recognizing the efforts and contributions of each worker to the country’s development.

In 1889, the Socialist International Congress declared May 1 as International Workers' Day, in memory of the victims of the general strike held in Chicago (USA) in 1886. This day is commemorated through workers' demonstrations. Over time, May 1 became the holiday of workers' movements in most countries of the world, with various manifestations gaining momentum, as authorities agreed with unions for this day to be a holiday.
